A L O H A 🌸

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my art.  My name is Kacie Leigh, creator of Prisma Shell, LLC. My dream for my art collective, Prisma Shell, began as a creative space to combine my artistic endeavors with my passions.

I have studied as an artist since a young age. Art class was always my favorite subject, and I eagerly attended various workshops for different mediums including ceramics, print making, textiles, drawing, and writing. My time at university was brief, interrupted to attend beauty school. Beauty school was similar to art school in the sense that we studied the color theory and sculpting hair, which trained my eye for value and tone, line and shape. Afterwards, I completed a 3-year hair color specialist apprenticeship in Chicago before moving to Hawai’i in 2014.

My career as a hair colorist & cosmetologist was my way of working as an artist, although I would daydream of becoming a professional painter. Fortunately for me, my best friend’s grandfather, Mr. John Manicke, was an award winning portrait artist. He gifted me a copy of Morgan Samuel Price’s Oil Painting with a Basic Palette, which was a treasure of knowledge as  I learned how to paint with oils. I enjoyed practicing and putting all of my life’s experience with art into a new medium. At first it was a slow process of trial and error. Over a few years, I had developed my skills to complete my first oil painting of a pineapple in my kitchen.

In 2019, my dream to become a professional oil painter came true. My first commissions were to capture our majestic kohola, also known as humpback whales, to redecorate a grand residence at Montage Kapalua Bay.

From there, I began Prisma Shell and grateful to work full time as an artist for mostly private commissions of portraits, birds, whales, and various landscapes. My art is now collected in many homes abroad, from Hawaii, California to Tennessee, Indiana, and beyond. Most recently, I was honored to show at Malama Wao Akua 2020 at Maui’s Hui No’Eau, where I won the award for “Rarest Find.”

I enjoy studio time & plein air sessions, and my favorite time to paint is the early morning with the soft pastel tints in the sky. As a full time artist, I am enjoy spending time with my young daughter, who is such a little artist herself. She loves to paint with me and mix colors. Her pure imagination is always inspiring.

Before art is my quest for G O D in my daily life, and sharing light to humanity through my gifts of art, and through my time with volunteering. I have experienced many miracles in my life, and I give all praise to G O D. I am beyond grateful to live in Hawai’i nei surrounded by the unsurpassable beauty of the flowers, mountains, water, sky, and stars.

Beyond art, my passion is being active and enjoying this beautiful Earth. Hiking, swimming in the ocean, volunteering with our community, and helping to protect our environment are ways I spend my free time.✨

2022 is shaping up to be full of opportunity, and I am looking forward to showing more of my work. Please visit www.PrismaShell.com or @prisma.shell for updates. Thank you for your support & appreciation.
